Amazon Prime has more than 40 million members in the US alone, according to some estimates it could even be as as many 54 million. One of the advantages of paying $99 a year is enjoying free two-day shipping on all orders.
However, if you are not a member, you probably have to wait longer than that, Forbes reports. According to new data from StellaService, a company that measures customer service performance of online retailers, Amazon shipping has actually become slower than before.
– For a long time, Amazon has been the leader when it comes to fulfillment. There are 40 companies on our list, and Amazon has always been in the top 10. This year, we’ve seen them fall outside of the top 10, which is the first time we’ve seen that happen, says Kevon Hills, vice president of research for StellaService.
Prime Membership Continues to Boom
According to StellaService Amazon is now trailing to companies like BestBuy and Apple and Kevon Hill says it´s mainly beacause the company’s focus is on delivering for Prime members,
In 2015, worldwide paid Prime memberships increased 51% (47% in the US) but the speed of shipments to Prime customers is unchanged.
– They’re investing heavily in Prime and that’s their focus. That’s where they’re putting all their investments, says Kevon Hills.
