Amazon UK will start "Boxing Day Deals Week" already on Christmas Eve in order to meet the customers’ demands. Shopping on Christmas Day has rapidly become very popular in the UK, and Amazon is now expecting its busiest Christmas Day ever. The day is also predicted to be company’s busiest day ever for digital downloads of for example Kindle books, music and video games.
Amazon normally sees the busiest day for digital downloads between Christmas Day and 28th of November, but this year the high is expected to be early.
- Digital streaming and downloads are extremely popular on Christmas Day because of the number of new devices that are given as gifts. The moment that people receive their new device, they want Kindle books to read, apps to play, music to listen to, and movies and TV shows to watch. With more digital content available on Amazon than ever before, we expect Christmas Day to break digital download records, said Jay Marine, Vice President of Amazon Video EU.
Sales Dip During Queen's Speech
Amazon has put together a list of activities that many Brits perform during Christmas Day, in order to find out when to expect peak levels on the site. For example the e-commerce giant expects a sales dip around 3 pm during the queen’s speech, and a sales peak around 9 pm when many Brits are relaxing on their sofas after a day of exhausting celebrating.
- A closer look at the hour by hour trends on 25th December gives us a real insight into how the UK spends Christmas Day - from saving the day with a last minute Gift Card to grabbing a bargain in the sale. This year, we’ll be launching Boxing Day Deals Week at 4pm on Christmas Eve and with the sales running until 31st December, there’s plenty of time to get a great deal from the comfort of your sofa, said Jay Marine.
