Recently we reported that Flipkart, who often is considered to be the Amazon of India, isn´t the biggest online marketplace in the country. According to latest figures Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corp, a subsidiary of the Indian Railways, holds first place in terms of revenue.
That might not be a big concern for Flipkart since the government-owned portal mostly sell e-tickets. But a new statement from Amazons founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, might be a little more disturbing.
In a letter published on the website Bezos claims that Amazon.in is the most-visited e-commerce website in India based on the comScore numbers for October 2015.
Will Continue to Invest
According to the comScore chart put out by Amazon, it has close to 30 million visitors in India by October 2015. Just ahead of Flipkart and well ahead of Jabong and Snapdeal.
– Just two and a half years from our launch, Amazon.in has become the most visited e-commerce site in India. This customer response continues to amaze and energize us, Bezos writes.
Amazon recently opened a seventh fulfilment centre in Maharashtra and Bezos writes that Amazon will continue to grow its investments in India. And to celebrate and thank its customers, Amazon is offering a gift card worth Rs 200 for customers who shop on Amazon.in for Rs 500 or more on Monday.
