Many eyebrows were raised when Amazon last year announced the opening of a physical bookstore in the company’s hometown Seattle. This summer sees the opening of the next Amazon Books, this time in San Diego, according to MarketWatch.
The news site has seen signs advertising the opening of the store as well as job postings looking for people, including managers and booksellers, to work in the new shop. The new location is set to the Westfield UTC Mall, a "high-end outdoor shopping mall" which is supposed to be similar to the mall in Seattle where the first store opened.
Will Remind of Existing Store
The San Diego-Union Tribune, which was the first newspaper to reveal the plans of the new store, is of the idea that the San Diego store will look a lot like the first one, selling well-reviewed books and promoting Amazon’s technology like the Kindle e-readers.
Last month rumours had it that Amazon was about to open hundreds of bookstores across the US, although the speculations were quickly turned down.
