Prime Now, Amazon's free two hour delivery service, has spread across the US since it launched in Manhattan in December 2014. And so has another of the e-commerce giant's delivery services, namely Prime Free Same-Day Delivery.
A service that lets Prime members place an order in the morning and receive it before bedtime that same day, seven days a week. As long as the same-day orders are at least $35.
– Prime was developed to make shopping on Amazon fast and convenient, and millions of members have used Prime Free Same-Day Delivery to make their lives even easier, said Greg Greeley, Vice President of Prime.
More Than 1,000 Cities and Towns
The same-day delivery service, which first rolled out in May last year, comes at no additional cost for customers paying $99 annually for an Amazon Prime membership, and today the company announced the expansion of Prime Free Same-Day Delivery to eleven more metro areas.
The new cities are Charlotte, Cincinnati, Fresno, Louisville, Milwaukee, Nashville, Raleigh, Richmond, Sacramento, Stockton, and Tucson, plus new areas in Central New Jersey, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Making the free delivery service available in 27 metro areas in the US, accounting for more than 1,000 cities and towns.
But Amazons speedier options do come with less selection. While there are hundreds of millions of items available on Amazon.com, same-day deliveries are ”only” available for some 1 million products.
