In an effort to gain a larger part of the world of physical shopping online marketplace for handcrafted goods Etsy is to introduce a pop up-store called The Etsy Shop in Macy’s department store in New York City.
The shop will provide eight of the site’s designers the possibility to showcase their products, and customers will be able to choose from 50 offerings including everything from houseware to jewellery, according to Internet Retailer. The product range in The Etsy Shop will be updated every one and a half to two months.
- For designers to showcase their products to a locally and globally diverse customer base in the exciting, selling environment of Herald Square, is an incredible opportunity for both wholesalers and customers, Macy’s executive vice president Marc Mastronardi said in a blog post.
Several Previous Partnerships
However, Macy’s is not the first store to partner with Etsy. The online marketplace has previously sold its products in the department store chain Nordstrom, home furnishing retail chain West Elm and Indigo Books & Music. Nordstrom and West Elm still provide their customers products from Etsy.
Etsy presented good results over the first nine months of 2015. Sales came up to $1.647 billion, 24,7 percent up from the same period the year before.
