"First of Its Kind" Mall Will Marry Online and Offline Experiences

SingPost wants to offer its customers a mix of online and offline shopping by developing a futuristic mall where e-commerce will be integrated into traditional stores.

Singapore Post, SingPost, has decided to build what they concider to be a completely new kind of shopping mall where e-commerce is going to be combined with shopping in traditional stores.

The idea is to let the customers decide for themselves in what way they want to shop. A customer might in the new mall for example look at a product in one of the stores and then order it for home delivery. In that way the customer will not have to carry any heavy shopping bags and the stores in their turn can save money by having smaller storage rooms in the mall.

- SingPost is building a unique and disruptive concept – converging online and offline – to gain maximum customer benefits. With the new retail mall at Singapore Post Centre, consumers can enjoy the best of both worlds - online and offline - while businesses can potentially cut costs and focus on enhancing customer experiences, Dr Wolfgang Baier, Group Chief Executive Officer of SingPost, said.

The mall will have a total of five floors and contain stores, a cinema and restaurants. The building is planned to be completed by mid-2017.
