In order to offer online-shoppers a place where they without risk can receive their purchased goods, several American cities has established "safe zones". In these zones people could meet and complete transactions without the risk of theft.
Couple Killed When Meeting Seller
In Boston, City Councilor Matt O’Malley this week will offer a resolution of several e-commerce exchange zones, in order to provide "a safe, well-lit and neutral location" where buyers and sellers can meet.
- People can make any arrangements they could be comfortable with. This is an opportunity for them to take advantage of a safe space, O’Malley said to Boston Globe.
Safe spaces could include police stations, lobbies and other places that are staffed and opened all day seven days a week, according to Boston Globe.
Similar online shopping safe zones have previously been presented in for example Washington, Georgia and North Carolina. In Georgia, the safe zones came into place after the killing of a couple who had made an appointment with a stranger to buy a car.
