Nike Accelerates Digital Push, Names First Chief Digital Officer

In its race to hit $7 billion in online sales by fiscal 2020, Nike has appointed Adam Sussman as the company's first chief digital officer.

During the second quarter of fiscal 2016, that ended 30th of November, Nike grew its online sales by 50 percent compared to the same period last year. Nike did not report dollar figures but is expecting to make just over a billion dollars annually through its ecommerce.

Nike has invested heavily in its ecommerce channels and by 2020 Nike expects web sales to generate $7 billion a year. In order to reach that goal the sportswear giant this week named Adam Sussman as the company´s first chief digital officer.

Tackle Tomorrow's Challenges Today

Sussman has been with the company since 2014, most recently as head of global strategy and development. In his new role he is charged with building out the company's digital ecosystem, including Nike.com and Nike+.

Sussman has worked for various companies, including EA Mobile and Disney Interactive. He joined Nike from Zynga, where he served as a senior vice president of global publishing.

Adam’s wealth of experience in digital, consumer technology and strategy leadership makes him the perfect person to tackle tomorrow’s challenges today, says Nike brand president Trevor Edwards.
